Debha N. Amatya, M.D., Ph.D.

CAPPS Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist

Dr. Amatya is a child & adolescent psychiatry research track fellow at UCLA. He is a member of Carrie Bearden’s laboratory and is working with her to study how speech data can be analyzed with machine learning tools to identify predictive patterns that encode psychosis risk. He is also working on a clinical trial focused on improving symptoms for youth at clinical high-risk for psychosis through the UCLA Center for the Assessment and Prevention of Prodromal States. 

 

Prior to his fellowship training, Debha completed adult psychiatry residency at UCLA and his MD/PhD at UC San Diego, where his research focused on the genetics of autism spectrum disorders. Looking forward, Debha plans to pursue a career in academic child & adolescent psychiatry that is devoted to shifting trajectories of psychosis through a combination of patient care and research.
