Valerie Sommer, M.S.

Valerie is a fourth-year doctoral candidate in the Clinical Psychology Psy.D. program at the University of La Verne, where she also earned her M.S. in Clinical Psychology. Valerie completed her B.S. in Psychobiology at UCLA.

Valerie is passionate about helping young people and their families navigate complex mental health challenges through developmentally attuned and compassionate care. Her clinical work has centered on addressing the needs of children, adolescents, and individuals with serious mental illness across both inpatient and outpatient settings, while her research has explored youths’ perspectives on mental health interventions. At CAPPS, she aims to utilize psychodiagnostic assessment to inform and empower individuals while raising awareness about the importance of early intervention.
